In 1997, I began showing SH Muzette. I was introduced to showing halter horses by Mark and Tony Larscheidt, halter trainer and performance trainer, respectively. It did not take long for me to become hooked and addicted to showing. I enjoyed the fun, the excitement, the comrade and of course a few ribbons here and there. Just when I achieved and created higher goals, Mark was tragically killed in an automobile accident in December 1999. I was devastated not knowing what to do next, where to go, and how to get there. I no longer had the desire, the will and the passion to show my halter horse or any other horse. I was completely and utterly lost!
Yet somehow I mustered up enough energy to start attending horse shows and watch the halter classes. I watched the performance classes hoping to find that passion to show my mare again. I missed showing her, missed the people and missed the fun! While I watched the performance classes, I contemplated showing her under saddle. However, she was not suited to be ridden in a class when all she could physically manage was walk and trot. Thus, I searched for a stallion to breed to her. Her first foal was by Scottsdale OnFire, RH PreshusSuzette. From that point on, I realized that she could out produce herself and create Arabian athletes. It is while watching the English Pleasure and Park classes that I fell in love with the excitement of showing high trotting horses. It is my goal to one day show my very own horse in these classes.
For now, I sit back and watch my own horses develop while I better myself and prepare for my return to the show ring.
My name is Renee Severson. Ever since I was a little girl and as far back as I can remember, I've always had a passion for horses. There is so much excitement while watching other people compete, watching the foals develop into beautiful athletic adults or watching my horses progress in their training.
In August of 1992, I purchased my very first horse, SH Muzette, from Shadowood Farm International located in Dousman, Wisconsin. Little did I know that my newly acquired eight month old purebred Arabian filly would change my life and lead me on a path to better things.
